The selection process will be conducted with the objective of filling several positions and to draw-up a reserve list of rostered candidates for future vacant positions. The reserve list initially remains valid for two years, with the possibility of extension at the Director-General's discretion.
Please note that the entry grade of this position begins in principle at P3, and the final grade offered to the selected candidate is subject to the decision of the IO Director General. However, the appointment to a position may be made at a lower grade if the qualifications and professional experience of the selected applicant correspond to that grade; in this case, the duties and responsibilities assigned will be adjusted accordingly.

- Designing scalable architecture, establishing best practices, and delivering with a passionate team advanced AI applications that solve real-world business problems for thousands of ITER users.
- Coordinating delivery of AI initiatives and designing scalable architectures across the organization.
The IT Project Tools Section aims to effectively design and operate the ITER Organization’s IT systems and services in high availability and provides user support, ensuring suitable IT systems/ services and to deliver impactful AI-driven solutions to address complex challenges and drive continuous improvement for the ITER Project.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinates contracts / external partnerships and in-house delivery of AI initiatives across ITER, aligning them with the organization’s business goals and priorities.
- Establishes the processes and best practices for AI development, emphasising code quality, maintainability, security, and compliance across the full project lifecycle.
- Architects, builds and ships AI solutions in production across various domains (design, engineering, construction, admin etc.) and guides the technical architecture decisions.
- Supports the full adoption journey, from discovery and initial evaluation through deployment and ongoing improvement.
- Works with a team of AI engineers, fostering an agile delivery culture applying best practice in AI-assisted development.
- Interfaces with other IT teams to integrate AI products into IO projects tools (IDM, Engineering Database, SAP, OPC, CAD tools, etc.)
- Coordinates with senior management and business stakeholders to translate priorities into a coherent AI architecture and delivery roadmap.
Additional Responsibilities
- Stays current with the latest AI trends in implementation patterns and AI product development stacks.
- Actively promotes AI literacy and adoption by disseminating best practices and supporting teams in integrating AI into their day-to-day work.

Experience & Competencies
Essential:
- Extensive experience in designing, developing, and deploying production-ready Generative AI and Machine Learning (ML) systems in fast-paced environments.
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Delivery: Experience designing, developing, and deploying production-ready Generative AI and ML systems, including LLM-based applications and RAG pipelines, and moving prototypes into scalable, secure, and maintainable enterprise-grade solutions.
- Architecture & Technical Leadership: Ability to define AI architectures, establish development processes and best practices, and guide the technical decisions of a delivery team.
- Multi-Agent Frameworks: Hands-on experience architecting multi-agent systems using latest frameworks with a deep understanding of emerging trends.
- Cloud & MLOps: Experience deploying AI solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, and implementing MLOps practices for model lifecycle management.
- Excellent Python programming skills.
- Communicating Effectively: Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Desirable:
- Directs Work: Coordinates and guides the activities of small teams of technicians and engineers.
- Experience fine-tuning and evaluating foundation models for performance and safety.
- Experience supporting AI adoption, user training, digital transformation consulting experience and change management.
- Experience in AI applications across design, engineering, or construction fields.
- Organizational Savvy: maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people related organizational dynamics.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in AI / Computer Science field or other relevant discipline.
- The required education degree(s) may be substituted by extensive professional experience involving similar work responsibilities and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains.
